Jefferson, who authenticated the 2nd Amendment, would have been for gun restriction

The US is at the top of the list of gun-related deaths in the world. All thanks to a (thankfully) diminishing group of people who feel it is more important to leave an 221-year old amendment intact – that is completely out of date and written for times very different from the ones we now live in – than to actually do what the Bill of Rights set out to do - protect the people.

To quote the man who, serving as Secretary of State, authenticated that very amendment, Thomas Jefferson:

"It may be proved that no society can make a perpetual constitution, or even a perpetual law. The earth belongs always to the living generation. Every constitution, and every law, naturally expires at the end of 19 years."
Jefferson in a letter to Madison on September 6, 1789.

Jefferson has been dead for 186 years, and still he manages to have a more modern view on this issue than many people in this country, and far bigger balls than our current leaders.
