Jefferson, who authenticated the 2nd Amendment, would have been for gun restriction

The US is at the top of the list of gun-related deaths in the world. All thanks to a (thankfully) diminishing group of people who feel it is more important to leave an 221-year old amendment intact – that is completely out of date and written for times very different from the ones we now live in – than to actually do what the Bill of Rights set out to do - protect the people.

To quote the man who, serving as Secretary of State, authenticated that very amendment, Thomas Jefferson:

“It may be proved that no society can make a perpetual constitution, or even a perpetual law. The earth belongs always to the living generation. Every constitution, and every law, naturally expires at the end of 19 years.”
Jefferson in a letter to Madison on September 6, 1789.

Jefferson has been dead for 186 years, and still he manages to have a more modern view on this issue than many people in this country, and far bigger balls than our current leaders.

Every now and then in a creative persons life, he or she come up with an idea that gets refused by the client/buyer/studio. When it happens you might question yourself: “Was it a bad idea?”, “Am I crazy?”, “Should I take up puppetry?”
But then, years later, someone else come up with the EXACT same idea, except this time, it gets produced. Perhaps this time, the client was braver, or maybe because time has passed the client didn’t have to be very brave at all.
Whatever, the beautiful thing is that as a creative person you get the answers to the questions you asked yourself all those years ago. It was a great idea! You are not crazy! Puppetry is weird!
I think many will agree with me that it is a wonderful feeling to know you were right, and that your idea would have been a success, if only… At least, it makes me very, very happy. Urgh.
